Strictly line-up announced
With the X-Factor having kicked off on ITV recently, it was only a matter of time before the return of BBC rival Strictly Come Dancing.Today (August 28th), the celebrity line-up for the programme has been announced, as well as a few changes to the format.
The sixth series will feature two more couples than have danced in previous years and will run for longer.
Among the female contestants are former S Club popstar Rachel Stevens, the One Show presenter Christine Bleakley and model Lisa Snowdon.
Heather Small of 90s dance act M People will also compete with the ladies, as will former Eastenders actress Jessie Wallace.
Representing the men will be GMTV presenter Andrew Castle, celebrity chef Gary Rhodes and political broadcaster John Sergeant.
According to the Telegraph, betting firm Ladbrokes has already installed Stevens as 3/1 favourite to win the programme.
Robin Hutchison of Ladbrokes said: "We reckon the dance moves that took S Club 7 to the top of the charts will serve Rachel well. But she faces stiff competition particularly from the sportsmen who have done well in the competition before."
Last year's show was won by singer Alesha Dixon along with partner Matthew Cutler, who will dance with Bleakley this year.
