Johansson quashes wedding rumours

Scarlett Johansson has spoken out via a representative on a report suggesting that she is engaged to Ryan Reynolds.

The Daily News had claimed that an engagement announcement was on the cards from the Hollywood pair.

Citing a "very good source", the news provider suggested that wedding bells may not be far off for the movie stars - though it added that Jonansson's representative had denied the rumours.

The actress has now stated herself that the rumour was unsubstantiated, which may come as a blow for fans of celebrity weddings.

"There is no truth at all to the Daily News piece," her spokesperson told OK! magazine in the US.

Johansson was previously involved in a relationship with Josh Hartnett before she began dating Reynolds, whose career has included roles in Van Wilder and Smokin' Aces.

Her own career has been hugely successful, with parts in movies such as Lost in Translation and The Prestige as well as a string of Oscar nominations marking her out as one of Hollywood's hottest properties.

Earlier this week, the actress was quoted as saying by the Star Online eCentral that she will be heading to the Gulf as part of the United Service Organisation's entertainment tour for its troops.
